Bruce Marvin, PE, (senior environmental engineer and associate of the firm) and Eric Suchomel, PhD, PE, (project environmental engineer), both in Geosyntec's Oakland office, co-presented a summary of their research into zero valent zinc applications for treatment of 1,2,3-trichloropropane, a recalcitrant and emerging contaminant, Nov. 10 at the
American Chemical Society's 43rd Western Regional Conference
.
Co-authoring the presentation, Zero Valent Zinc: Technology Basis and Verification, were
Paul Tratnyek
, PhD, and Alexandra Salter-Blanc with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). During their presentation, Bruce and Eric summarized the results of several years of collaboration with OHSU researchers to evaluate zero valent zinc for in situ and ex situ groundwater treatment applications.
The collaboration has included laboratory studies and scale-up to support
a pilot study
for the U.S. Navy Environmental Sustainability Development to Integration (NESDI) Program. An abstract of their presentation is available by
