David Bonnett, P.E., is a senior practitioner in construction management and geotechnical engineering and an Associate of the firm in Massachusetts. He has more than 25 years of construction and design experience. His practice focuses on all aspects of water and natural resources engineering and waste containment facility planning, design, and construction, including environmental design, permitting, and construction oversight.
David has significant experience with construction quality assurance (CQA) and construction management (CM) for the installation of geosynthetics and soil liners for waste management facilities and for remedial construction activities for Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) closures, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) sites.
David’s design and construction expertise includes in situ containment systems and the installation of a wide variety of appurtenances associated with leachate detection/collection systems and landfill gas collection/extraction systems. He also has experience with the construction of mechanically stabilized earthen (MSE) berms, interceptor trenches/vertical barriers, and a variety of remediation technologies.
David has been involved in water resources-related engineering designs using low impact development (LID) concepts and is familiar with the biotechnologies and restoration of wetlands. As part of his design approach, he has evaluated the use of bio-swales, retention basins, porous pavement and blocks, buffer zone plantings, and rain gardens to mitigate the impacts of stormwater flows.
As part of his construction management practice, David has been the liaison between client, contractor, and regulatory agencies, and has overseen the development of technical specifications, CQA plans, construction bid documents, design and construction drawings. Additionally, he has conducted field audits, helped to identify potential construction problems, and assisted with solutions implementation. He has conducted numerous design and constructability reviews for waste management facilities and construction claim support. He has provided litigation support on numerous construction claims.
