He specializes in applying innovative risk–based approaches to reduce the cost of site assessment and remediation activities.

Practice Specialties
Over the past 20 years, he has directed investigations and remedial strategy development major sites in the Southeast and Midwest including eleven sites regulated under CERCLA and twelve regulated under RCRA.  In addition, he has led the investigation and remedial strategy development for more than 100 state-regulated sites across the South.  He has extensive experience in the assessment/ remediation of sites contaminated with a wide range of constituents including chlorinated solvents, PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, and metals.  He has conducted this work on behalf of clients that include Fortune 500 companies, private developers, the federal government, counties, and municipalities.  As Geosytnec’s Program Manager for the RCRA Program at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center over the past nine years, Dr. Peel has been involved in 35 sites, and led his team to achieve 16 closures or No Further Action approvals.

His broad experience with state-funded Brownfields programs, waste containment and in situ biological treatment technologies, ecological and human health risk assessment protocols, and regulatory compliance processes gives him a unique perspective in developing economic and environmental strategies for the beneficial redevelopment of contamination-impacted properties such as the Biscayne Commons site located in North Miami.

Advancing the State-of-the-Practice
