ATLANTA, Ga. — Geosyntec welcomes Russ Short, CFP, as Associate. Russ is based in the firm's Atlanta Regional Office.
Russ has 28 years of experience in contaminated sediment investigations and remediations, environmental impact studies, and natural resources consulting. His project experience includes the petroleum and chemical industries, US Department of Defense, US Environmental Protection Agency, and the United Nations, as well as local and regional governments in the Northeast, Great Lakes, South, Alaska, and international locations (Caribbean, the Middle East, South and Central America, and Eastern Europe).
Russ brings significant National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) experience to Geosyntec, including directing preparation of more than 30 environmental assessments and six environment impact statements for the US Department of Defense, Customs and Border Protection, Bureau of Prisons, Air Force, Army Corps of Engineers, and other agencies. He served as project manager for numerous contaminated sediment studies requiring ecotoxicology studies, aquatic biota sediment investigations, remediation projects, feasibility studies and conceptual designs, eco-risk assessments, fisheries environmental impact studies, and construction mitigation projects. He has also conducted domestic and international valuations of human-induced environmental damage.
Russ earned an MA in marine science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science of the College of William and Mary and a BS in fisheries and limnology from Michigan State University. He is a Certified Fisheries Professional.
