James Wang, PhD, PE, joins Geosyntec's Columbia, Maryland location with over 10 years of experience in applied research and engineering practices in the areas of solid waste management and environmental remediation. With expertise in environmental biological processes, he has completed many engineering and research projects related to bioreactor landfills, solid waste and wastewater treatment, and groundwater remediation. He has designed and implemented biosparging, enhanced in situ bioremediation, monitored natural attenuation, and co-solvent soil flushing technologies. He has also developed a systems analysis tool and an electrochemical treatment process for C&D waste management, as well as a pilot reactor for wastewater nitrogen removal.
James has taught graduate-level Environmental Chemistry and Microbiology and Solid and Hazardous Waste Management at Northeastern University in Boston. James earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, and is a Professional Engineer in North Carolina and Maryland. He and his wife Serena live in Gaithersburg, Maryland with their daughters Emily and Alison.
