He has provided planning, design, analysis, modeling, construction documents, and project management for a wide variety coastal and riverine projects for public and private sector clients. Paul's experience includes numerical and physical modeling of coastal and riverine processes as well as field data collection and laboratory investigations. For assessment and development of engineering solutions to hydraulic and hydrodynamic problems, he has applied analytical and statistical techniques, numerical models, and advanced field measurement methods. Paul's projects have ranged in size from small beach nourishments to state-wide coastal planning studies.

In 2012, a chapter of the ASCE Coasts, Oceans, Ports & Rivers Institute was formed under the Louisiana Section to serve all of the members of the state. It is called the ASCE – COPRI Louisiana Chapter. The activities of the chapter include arranging seminars and workshops to benefit ASCE and COPRI members of the Louisiana Section and sponsoring a scholarship for a student attending a Louisiana university with an interest in the COPRI subject areas.

The Louisiana Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers was founded in 1914 and has since been in continuous operation. The Section consists of the entire state of Louisiana and it is divided into four branches that directly serve its almost 2,000 members.
