Neal Durant to Serve as Faculty and Emerging Contaminants Panel Leader at the American Law Institute Environmental Litigation 2018 Course

Neal Durant, Ph.D. (Washington D.C.) will serve as an invited faculty member at the American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI – CLE) Environmental Litigation Course in Washington D.C. on June 21-22, 2018.

Neal is a Senior Principal Engineer based in Washington, D.C. with more than 28 years of experience investigating, remediating, and managing complex contaminated sites.

He will join a group of distinguished environmental attorneys representing environmental law firms, state and federal environmental regulatory agencies, and non-profit environmental interest groups who will deliver this two-day course. Content for the course includes litigating toxic torts and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Safe Drinking Water Act cases, allocation and apportionment in CERCLA cases, and selecting, qualifying, and preparing scientific experts.

Neal will co-lead a panel discussion, "Litigating Emerging Groundwater Contaminants," focusing on polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), 1,4-dioxane, perchlorate, and lead. In addition, he will serve as an expert in a mock trial regarding PFAS in groundwater.
