Rula Deeb, Ph.D., BCEEM, PMP (California) will discuss the latest technical and regulatory information on PFAS at the Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) Roundtable meeting of the National Association for Environmental Management (NAEM). This meeting will be held at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on March 28-28, 2019.
Rula is a Senior Principal Civil and Environmental Engineer based in California with more than 25 years of experience focused on private practice and academia addressing the cross-media fate and transport of emerging contaminants, and the remediation of complex soil and groundwater sites impacted by non-aqueous phase liquids.
The EHS&S Roundtable is an executive leadership group with a focus on high-level EHS&S strategies, business risks and government policies. Roundtable attendees will learn and share key takeaways for how to set EHS&S policy, goals and strategies for their organization. Attendees will be also given tools to assess government policy and regulations, and then set a path for guiding their company's relationship with federal and local governments.
NAEM was founded in 1991 by a group of professionals in the New England area to be a resource for those who are looking to advance environmental management, health and safety and sustainability within their companies. It is a nonprofit association governed by a volunteer Board of corporate EHS&S managers, directors and vice presidents.
Following a large amount of public input, the U.S. EPA announced its first ever per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Action Plan this February. While the plan will help provide the tools and technologies that need to provide clean and safe drinking water, there are still large variations between the allowable limit in several states across the United States. This session will address how companies can navigate an issue that is drawing increased attention at both national and local levels.
