GUELPH, Ontario, Canada — Geosyntec Consultants' Guelph office recently received the University of Guelph College of Management & Economics Workplace Education Award. The announcement was made at the Guelph Chamber of Commerce's 2009 Guelph Awards of Excellence Gala.
The Workplace Education Award recognizes an organization in Guelph that exhibits excellence in supporting post-secondary education in some or all of the following ways:
- Providing tuition reimbursement for employees who take post-secondary courses or who undertake degree, diploma, or certificate programs;
- Accommodating leave with or without pay for educational purposes; and/or
- Providing co-op placements or internships within the City of Guelph for students from any post secondary educational institution.
"We recognize the benefits to employees and to the company of encouraging continuing education within the workplace," said Geosyntec associate Tom Krug, PEng. "We are very pleased to receive this recognition for what we are doing."
Last year, Geosyntec ranked Number 1 in the United States among large firms and Number 2 overall in the "2008 Best Firm to Work For" competition, based on a survey of environmental firms by the Environmental Business Journal.
