Geosyntec to Sponsor the Society of Women Engineers 2016 Annual Conference

Geosyntec will sponsor the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) 2016 Annual Conference at the Pennsylvana Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 27-29, 2016.

With 10,000 attendees expected, the SWE Annual Conference is the largest conference in the world for women in engineering and technology.

Geosyntec will sponsor the Collegiate Leadership Institute, a three-day set of sessions specifically designed to prepare women pre- and post-graduation to become leaders in engineering. Attendees are selected competitively for this program based on their leadership potential, professional and personal aspirations, and intellectual curiosity.

Geosyntec is particularly proud to continue to support Tasha Kamegai-Karadi (California) in her leadership role within SWE. Tasha was the FY16 president of the Orange County section of SWE, and helped to establish a section in Hawaii. For her contributions within the organization and the field of engineering, earlier this year Tasha was awarded the DiscoverE New Faces of Engineering Award, which recognizes the talents of engineering leaders who are 30 years of age and younger.

She will also be giving a presentation in a Lightening Talk Session, "Less Strife for Work and Life," focused on "Inclusion and Cultural Awareness" and "Work Life/Balance" at 10am on October 29th.

Geosyntec's sponsorship of this conference was championed by Nancy Bice, Geosyntec's Diversity Leader.

SWE is a not-for-profit organization established in 1950. The organization has 35,000 members (collegiate and professionals) globally. SWE's mission is to help women achieve their full potential in their careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession, and demonstrate the value of diversity. This mission is realized through providing leadership training, professional development webinars and conferences, recognition for outstanding technical expertise and leadership, mentorship and outreach (K-12 and collegiate), and scholarships ($660,000 distributed in 2015 alone).
