Geosyntec Technical Participation at the Northwest Environmental Conference & Tradeshow

Geosyntec professionals will deliver three panel presentations during the Northwest Environmental Conference & Tradeshow (NWEC) at the Red Lion Hotel Jantzen Beach in Portland, Oregon on December 5-6, 2017.

NWEC is in its twenty-ninth year and is the largest environmental conference and tradeshow in the Pacific Northwest. It connects the environmental business community with regional and national technical professionals to find solutions, develop new business, and expand relationships. Over 500 attendees are expected. The conference provides attendees with current information and best practices related to environmental protection and compliance, new technologies and services, sustainable business practices, and trending policy issues.

NWEC is a collaborative endeavor presented by the Northwest Environmental Business Council, Oregon Business & Industry, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and the Washington Department of Ecology.

Geosyntec Participation

Howard Cumberland (Portland, Oregon) will be a panelist for the High Resolution Site Characterization session. He will present sediment case studies that demonstrate the value of using high resolution site characterization techniques to achieve better characterization and thus more refined treatment areas at reduced costs and project risks.

Anne Fitzpatrick (Seattle, Washington) will be a panelist for the Environmental Justice and Sustainability session. She will describe an innovative framework that links metrics to stakeholder values in a quantitative social assessment tool that was developed for use in evaluating the sustainability of the recommended remedial alternatives for the Portland Harbor Superfund Site.

Matt Vanderkooy (Guelph, Ontario) will be a panelist for the Advanced Sediment Remediation session. He will present an overview of new in situ sediment remedy approaches using activated carbon and Enhanced Monitored Natural Recovery, and how such remedies are evaluated and monitored using biological and chemical tools.

Each year, environmental leaders from the region gather to plan NWEC. The Planning Committee is comprised of representatives from the consulting, legal, regulatory, and regulated industries sectors. Geosyntec staff have participated since 2000.
