Geosyntec provides engineering design and design review of new structures and rehabilitation and enhancement of existing facilities and apply risk-informed approaches to estimate the likelihood of failure; the consequences in terms of life, safety, and economic losses; and levels of tolerable risk. We conduct performance assessment of existing structures using state-of-the-art modeling and analytical methodologies to evaluate structural integrity under a variety of loading conditions and perform inspection, condition assessment, and stability and seepage analysis of earthen dams and levees and for concrete, roller-compacted concrete, appurtenant hydraulic structures, and gravity dams.
We conduct analyses to evaluate the performance of earthen structures during seismic events, including the potential for loss of strength due to liquefaction. We are nationally known for performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and engineering in support of dam, dike, and levee design, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Our modeling services and studies are used to assess flood inundation potential, maximum probable flood impacts, emergency action plan preparedness, and potential long-term flood storage capacity, including with regard to potential effects of climate change.
We also perform temperature and water quality modeling and studies to support management strategies to improve water quality and meet regulatory compliance criteria using state-of-the-practice numerical models. We conduct hydropower license amendments and environmental compliance services under Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations to expedite dam rehabilitation and conduct fisheries and water quality investigations and hydrodynamic, water quality, and sediment modeling.
Geosyntec also provides construction management, construction oversight, and comprehensive construction quality assurance (CQA) services using advanced information management systems (IMS). We have worked on the rehabilitation of existing structures, including feasibility analyses for the development of practical alternatives and implementation of selected remedial options, and have designed levees, dams, and other retaining structures associated with cooling waters and management of residuals.
