Geosyntec Pros Significant Players at 2010 WasteCon

BOSTON, Ma. — Nick Yafrate, Scott Luettich, PE, and David Espinoza, PhD, PE, will play significant roles at the upcoming WasteCon Conference in Boston from August 14 - 18, 2010. WasteCon is the annual national conference of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).

On August 14, Nick will present " Revitalization of Impacted Sites and Closed Landfills." He will discuss considerations when redeveloping closed landfill sites for a variety of end uses, including green or sustainable methods and installation of alternative energy sources. Nick is based in Geosyntec's Boston office.

On August 17, Scott will moderate the panel discussion entitled "The Use of Engineered Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) for Landfill Perimeter Berms." Geosyntec is a recognized industry leader in the design and use of MSE berms for landfill expansions. The panel will include regulators and landfill owners/operators to get an array of insights and opinions. Scott is based in our Augusta, Maine, office.

Also on August 17, David will speak on " Design Considerations for a Vertical Landfill Expansion over Extremely Compressible Soils." This presentation will provide an overview of the design challenges faced by the project team as well as the novel construction techniques implemented to circumvent the large settlements expected to take place under a 60-ft high MSE berm. David is based in our Columbia, Md., office.
