Mary deFlaun Elected Trustee-at-Large for the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists
Mary deFlaun, Ph.D., BCES (New Jersey) has been elected Trustee-at-Large of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES) Board of Trustees.
Mary is a Senior Principal Environmental Microbiologist based in New Jersey with more than 25 years of experience remediating recalcitrant organics and metals through monitored natural attenuation, enhanced in situ bioremediation, in situ chemical reduction, and biosequestration of metals.
She will begin her three-year term as Trustee-at-Large on January 1, 2020. Mary's past contributions to the AAEES include chairing the Distinguished Accreditation Committee; serving on the Certification by Eminence Committee; the Membership, Development, and Outreach Committee; and the Integration Task Force.
The AAEES is a not-for-profit organization serving the Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science professions by providing Board Certification to those who qualify through experience and testing. The AAEES also provides training through workshops and seminars, participates in accrediting universities, publishes a periodical and other reference materials, interacts with students and young professionals, sponsors a university lecture series, and rewards outstanding achievements through its international awards program. The AAEES Board of Trustees is composed of one member nominated by each of the sponsoring societies, the Academy President, President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, the latest living Past President, and six Trustees-at-Large.
