Geosyntec Staff to Contribute and Participate at the Remediation Technologies Symposium 2019 (RemTech 2019)
Geosyntec professionals will be delivering three presentations and moderating a session at Remediation Technologies Symposium 2019 (RemTech 2019) at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Canada on October 16-18, 2019.
Tracy Dannell, EP, Silvia Mancini, Ph.D, P.Geo., Ron Gestler, David Bertrand, P.Geo. and Trevor Carlson, QP of Geosyntec will be participating, moderating and/or presenting at the conference.
Tracy Dannell is a Project Scientist/Biologist with more than 13 years of professional environmental experience focused on contaminated sites, natural sciences, environmental regulations and compliance, at both the program and project level. Tracy has managed environmental projects in the planning, design and implementation stages for a variety of clients in both the private and public sector, relating to infrastructure, buildings and the environment.
Silvia Mancini, is a Principal with more than 15 years of experience focused on managing soil and groundwater remediation programs. She obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Toronto focusing on innovative technologies including bioremediation and stable isotope analysis. Silvia's consulting experience includes implementing and managing remediation programs using advanced technologies such as smouldering combustion (STAR), in situ chemical oxidation/reduction, gravel bed bioreactors (GBRs), and permeable reactive barrier (PRBs). Silvia also provides expert opinions and litigation support on litigation cases in both Canada and the USA. Silvia is an author of several journal articles in her field of expertise and continues to manage government research programs focused on innovative methods and technologies for site characterization and remediation. These programs include the Natural Science and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) as well as the US Department of Defense Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP).
Ron Gestler has 19 years of consulting experience in remediation services. He has participated at every level in the design, implementation, management, and long-term monitoring for remediation systems using a wide-variety of technologies, including phytoremediation, bioremediation, in-situ chemical reduction/oxidation and others. He has successfully managed large-scale, multi-year remediation projects at active petrochemical facilities in the U.S. and Canada. Ron also has more than 15 years of experience applying plant-based remediation technologies to address impacted groundwater, soil and sediments. He has implemented successful phytoremediation systems at sites across North America for contaminants including chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, metals/metalloids, salts, nutrients, pesticides, chlorophenols and 1,4-Dioxane. He has particularly focused on the use of innovative phytoremediation systems that enhance contaminant degradation and target specific groundwater-bearing zones at depths normally inaccessible to plant roots.
David Bertrand is a Principal at Geosyntec. He is a hydrogeologist with over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting, brownfield redevelopment, waterfront revitalization, investigation and remediation of sites with recalcitrant contaminants, and vapor intrusion assessment and mitigation. Mr. Bertrand has directed and managed many interdisciplinary projects including site redevelopment, design and installation of risk management measures, environmental site assessment, and remediation of sites with recalcitrant contaminants.
Trevor, a Principal Remediation Specialist with Geosyntec Consultants based in Saskatoon, is a Saskatchewan QP with 24 years of industry, consulting and regulatory experience. He has overseen more than 1,000 impacted site assessments and 400 remediation projects. Throughout his career, Trevor has become a recognized expert in site assessment, remediation, industrial facility licensing / permitting and the strategic management of impacted site portfolios. He is excited about using innovation, good science and creativity to create value, solve problems and turn challenges into sound business opportunities.
Trevor has a track record of collaborating with industry and academia on environmental research projects focused on developing sustainable, innovative methods for managing industry environmental impairment challenges. He focuses on finding the best way to manage challenging projects based on site specific factors and stakeholder needs. He takes pride in helping to develop move forward solutions. Solutions that meet the needs of all stakeholders and that help create organizational and social value.
The Remediation Technologies Symposium 2019 (RemTech 2019) is the premier remediation technology transfer event for environmental professionals, encompassing the latest innovations in soil and groundwater remediation.
