The Florida Public Works Magazine (Formerly the APWA Florida Reporter) is a chapter-sponsored, quarterly magazine that features major projects, news on relevant topics, and profiles on industry professionals. The goal of the magazine is to be a resource to the public works community, inform and educate Florida Chapter members throughout its branches, showcase the profession, and help its membership be prepared to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century.
The American Public Works Association serves professionals in all aspects of public works—a fact that sets it apart from other organizations and makes it an effective voice of public works throughout North America. With a worldwide membership more than 30,000 strong, APWA includes not only personnel from local, county, state/province, and federal agencies, but also private sector personnel who supply products and services to those professionals.
Solid waste agencies evaluate costs and expenses while under pressure to deliver services at low rates. The article describes the use of financial modelling techniques for evaluating projected infrastructure needs. The article provides a walkthrough of this type of Pro Forma Model program using a case study of a solid waste rate analysis for the City of Wauchula, Florida. This technique is a key aspect of Geosyntec's solid waste advisory practice area.
