Geosyntec Honored as Key Partner of the University of Toronto

Geosyntec Consultants was awarded the Small-to-Medium (SME) Enterprise Partner Award for its continued support of the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto on November 15, 2017.

Vice-Dean, Research Ramin Farnood was there to deliver the award. Geosyntec representatives there to receive the award were: Phil Dennis, Sandra Dworatzek, Dr. Todd McAlary, Dr. Dave Major, Dr. Grant Allan (Chair, Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry), Dr. Elizabeth Edwards, Michaye McMaster, Dr. Brent Sleep (Chair, Department of Civil Engineering), and Dr. Gary Wealthall.

Geosyntec has partnered with University of Toronto (U of T) researchers on multiple projects and also developing products. One of the highlights involved the use of microbes to remediate contaminated industrial sites. In addition to their role as Geosyntec staff, Dr. Dave Major, Dr. Todd McAlary, and Dr. Gary Wealthall all hold faculty positions at U of T.

The SME Partner Award is presented to a small- or Medium-sized company that has demonstrated a commitment to fostering deep and meaningful relationships with the Faculty that have resulted in significant impact on the Faculty's teaching and/or research excellence.

U of T Engineering faculty, staff, alumni, and students receive recognition for their research, teaching, leadership, and dedication to the Engineering profession in the form of a record number of awards and grants. In the past few years, the number of major awards received is unparalleled in the Faculty's recent history. Their achievements have increased the Faculty's visibility among Canada's top Engineering organizations, such as the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Professional Engineers Ontario, as well as international organizations such as the National Academy of Engineering in the U.S.
