Geosyntec is pleased to announce the promotion of Ali Ebrahimi, Anica Haynes, Chris Wessel, Daniel Lee, David Parkinson, Geoffrey Frieman, Jason Conder, Logan Brant, Marlaina Auger, Misty Steele, Neil Couch, Rachel Klinger, Saverio Siciliano, Silvia Mancini, Steve Poirier, Suzanne Gabriele, and Victoria Cheplak to the position of Principal within the Geosyntec family of companies.
These individuals have each made substantial contributions in leading the development and delivery of highly valued solutions to our clients, recruiting and mentoring our next generation of exceptional staff, growing our practice capabilities, and collaborating with colleagues across the firm.
ALI EBRAHIMI, PH.D., P.E. (Texas)
Ali is focused on technical and managerial leadership in instrumentation. He earned a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 2011; an M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran in 2005; a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran in 2002; and is a registered professional engineer in Texas; Georgia; Wisconsin; Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C.
ANICA HAYNES, EIT (Louisiana)
Anica focuses her practice on environmental permitting and compliance services to the oil and gas industry and development of a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) practice. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2000 and is a registered engineer intern in Louisiana.
CHRIS WESSEL, P.E., QSD, QSP (California)
Chris' practice focuses on municipal stormwater management and construction, as well as airport-related environmental consulting. He earned an M.S. in Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), in 2009; a B.S., Civil and Environmental Engineering from UCLA in 2007; and is a registered professional civil engineer in California.
DANIEL LEE, P.E., CCM (California)
Daniel focuses his practice on bridging local planning projects into design and construction. He has been recognized for his collaborative efforts, and he is committed to mentorship and training staff. He earned an M.S. in Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering from UCLA in 2007; a B.S., Civil and Environmental Engineering from UCLA in 2006; and is a professional civil engineer in California.
DAVID PARKINSON, PH.D., P.G. (Washington)
David has helped the Seattle grow to a staff of 25. He serves a wide breadth of project types and supports key clients. David earned a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1992; an M.Sc. in Geological Sciences from University of British Columbia in 1985; a B.A. in Geological Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1981; and is a registered geologist in Washington State.
GEOFFREY FRIEMAN, P.G. (California)
Geoffrey manages a team in the Santa Barbara Vapor Intrusion and Risk Assessment practice. He earned an M.S., Environmental Science and Management from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004; a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1999; and is a registered professional geologist in California.
JASON CONDER, PH.D. (California)
Jason's practice is focused on the field ecological risk assessment and management of PFAS and developing state-of-the-practice passive sampling for sediment site investigation. Jason earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of North Texas in 2004; an M.S. in Zoology from Oklahoma State University in 2000; and a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology from Oklahoma State University in 1997.
LOGAN BRANT, PH.D., P.E. (Texas)
Logan's practice is focused on services to the oil and gas sector. He serves on two committees within the Society for Underwater Technology - Houston Branch. Logan earned a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from Columbia University in 2006; an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University; a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester; and is a registered professional engineer in seven states.
MARLAINA AUGER, P.E. (Ontario)
Marlaina's practice focuses on soil and groundwater remediation to private sector clients in the U.S. and Canada. She has enabled the delivery of large and complex remediation projects that require innovative solutions, including "first to field" technology scale-ups. Marlaina earned a B.A.Sc. in Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2001 and is a member of The Professional Engineers Ontario.
MISTY STEELE, CPSWQ, CA CGP, CA IGP (California)
Misty's practice focuses on stormwater compliance support for construction, industrial, and municipal projects, and expanding Geosyntec's services related to Clean Water Act litigation and California Industrial General Permit compliance. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana.
NEIL COUCH, P.G. (Wisconsin)
Neil focuses his practice on Savron efforts in promoting and developing STAR technology. He manages the Wisconsin Geoenvironmental Department and the Milwaukee office. Neil earned an M.S. in Hydrogeology from Western Michigan University in 2006; a B.S. in Geology from University of Wisconsin in 2003; and is a licensed professional geologist in Illinois.
RACHEL KLINGER, P.E., BCEE (Florida)
Rachel's expertise includes site investigation and remediation and focuses on groundwater projects, and she also makes significant contributions to Geosyntec's environmental management and geotechnical and geoenvironmental practices. She earned an M.S, Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2009; a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Florida State University in 2005; and is a registered professional engineer in Florida.
SAVERIO SICILIANO, P.G., CEG (California)
Saverio's practice focuses on geoenvironmental services to waste management, ports and harbors, and other municipal clients. He earned an M.S. in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering from the University of Southern California in May 1998; and a BS in Geological Sciences from University of Ferrara, Italy in 1995. He is a certified engineering geologist and a registered professional geologist in California.
SILVIA MANCINI, PH.D., P.GEO (Ontario)
Silvia has multiple client and practice development focus areas, including mining, environmental forensics, and remediation. She is widely known as an expert in the field of compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA). Silvia is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto. She earned a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Toronto in 2007; an M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Toronto in 2002; and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Toronto in 2000.
STEVE POIRIER, PH.D., P.E. (Massachusetts)
Steve is focused on a geotechnical and geoenvironmental practice. He earned a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 2005; an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University of Massachusetts in 2000; and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1998. Steve is also a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts and Florida.
SUZANNE GABRIELE (Colorado)
Suzanne's practice is centered on management system development and implementation, and expanding into learning management systems, sustainability, and due diligence. She mentors employees and others outside of the firm through the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program. Suzanne earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in 1988.
VICTORIA CHEPLAK, P.E. (Georgia)
Victoria's practice focuses on stormwater management strategies including permitting/compliance, design, and construction. She earned an M.S. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001; a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 1999; and is a registered professional engineer in Georgia and Kentucky.
