Geosyntec Practitioners Talk Trash in SWANA Florida's Summer 2022 Solid Waste Newsletter
Geosyntec's Sarah Gustitus-Graham, Ph.D., EI (Florida), Jill Gaffigan (Georgia), and Marc Rogoff, Ph.D., (Florida) were chief contributors to the Summer 2022 issue of the Florida Sunshine Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA FL) Newsletter, Talking Trash.
Beginning with a cover image of a Geosyntec project and a first-page advertisement for Geosyntec's solid waste management services, the issue features Geosyntec throughout. In the issue's "Letter from the President," Keith Howard, SWANA FL President mentions Sarah Gustitus-Graham; a picture of Sarah leading the SWANA FL Young Professionals Committee is also included in an article on the SWANA FL Summer Conference. The newsletter also contains an article coauthored by Jill and Marc, as well as a committee report by Marc Rogoff.
Jill and Marc's article, coauthored with Damian Tramel of the Hillsborough County Waste Management Division, is titled "Hillsborough County, FL Addresses Covid-19 Collection Issues." In this piece, Jill, Mark, and Damien describe how the County dealt with a dip in waste collection due to reduced staff and point to how the pandemic continues to influence communication between the County and its residents.
In "Member News," Marc Rogoff summarized the SWANA FL Collection and Transfer Committee's tour of and ride-along in an electric garbage truck. He offers a first impression of new electric vehicle garbage trucks used by the City of Ocala and addresses the City's goal of adopting battery electric refuse technology and powering vehicles with energy generated by waste.
