Meena Viswanath, P.E.,(Maryland) and Christopher Hunt, Ph.D., P.E., G.E., (California) coauthored "Waste Not, Want Not: Commercial Redevelopment of a Former Landfill Site" that was published in the October/November 2022 issue of GEOSTRATA.

The article describes a brownfields redevelopment project over a capped landfill adjacent to the San Francisco Bay, approximately 3 miles north of the San Francisco Airport. It focuses on the geotechnical, geoenvironmental, regulatory, and project management aspects of this complex redevelopment over a thick subsurface profile of municipal solid waste and soft clay; the project culminated in the construction of a life sciences campus with 616,000 square feet of office and laboratory space.

Meena is a Senior Engineer based in Maryland with more than 10 years of geotechnical and geoenvironmental experience. She focuses on geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, as well as waste containment facility design and permitting.

Chris is a Senior Principal based in California with more than 25 years of geotechnical and geoenvironmental experience. Chris's geoenvironmental practice focuses on analysis and design related to the closure of large, complex contaminated sites.
