Dale Prokopchak, CIH, CSP

Dale Prokopchak is a Principal Industrial Hygienist and Occupational Safety Specialist with more than 30 years of experience as a leader in industrial hygiene, safety, corporate environmental, health and safety program management, training, emergency response planning and implementation, and HAZWOPER compliance. His practice focuses on the development of environmental, health and occupational safety programs to protect workers, facility operating personnel, and the public.

With a support staff of 20 Health and Safety Coordinators (HSCs), Dale manages the implementation of medical surveillance programs, workers compensation/loss prevention, training, and auditing programs to ensure compliance with OSHA health and safety standards during work involving environmental construction and demolition at industrial facilities and sites impacted by past waste disposal activities. Working with contractor teams, Dale specializes in the development of project-specific training programs and medical monitoring programs to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. He supported U.S. EPA and FEMA contractor response efforts associated with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita disaster recovery programs, including development of an extensive medical surveillance program for first response personnel. Dale also has been involved with response to challenging current events, including rebuilding infrastructure in Iraq; training U.S. Postal Service personnel in recognizing and managing anthrax threats; and recovering chemicals and debris from the World Trade Center.

In addition to the training he conducts for OSHA compliance, Dale serves as an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, where he teaches courses as part of the master's degree program in industrial hygiene.
