Danielle Thorson, PEng

Danielle’s technical experience includes the characterization of non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL) in soil and sediment using in situ and ex situ investigation techniques as well as the development of remedial designs. She has applied the integration of investigative techniques and remedy design approaches to impacted soil, groundwater, and sediment sites in the United States, South America, and Canada. Her recent work has led her to focus on multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder projects involving the redevelopment and revitalization of coastal shorelines and waterways impacted by environmental contaminants and changing climate conditions.

A leader within Geosyntec’s Waterfront Improvement Practice, Danielle provides multidisciplinary solutions for complex waterfront redevelopments. She led the first to field investigation that utilized multiple combined high-resolution site characterization tools in combination with traditional sediment coring techniques to delineate sediment horizons as well as NAPL distribution. Danielle is Geosyntec’s project manager for the Waterfront Toronto Port Lands redevelopment project, one of the largest waterfront redevelopment projects in North America.
