Haydar Azzouz is a Senior Consultant Geologist based in California with more than 20 years of experience focused on the maintenance and closure of municipal solid waste and hazardous waste landfills, surface impoundments, and industrial and commercial facilities.
He specializes in site investigations, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans for the long-term protection of environmentally impacted areas. He has managed site investigations and environmental response plans for clients throughout the western United States in the aerospace, municipal solid waste, hazardous waste, and recycling industries.
Haydar's strengths include the streamlining of monitoring systems at active and closed landfills and successfully negotiating permit requirements with enforcement agencies. His recommendations for testing and reporting processes have aided clients in demonstrating compliance with greenhouse gas reduction initiatives. He has prepared and implemented more than 120 site investigations and corrective action plans in California.
Since 1994, Haydar has led mitigation projects at 25 municipal solid waste landfills. He also manages multidisciplinary projects involving water supply system design, permitting, construction, testing, operation and maintenance; geological and geotechnical engineering; and construction quality assurance and construction management.
Haydar also has designed, implemented, and managed detection, evaluation, and corrective action monitoring programs for groundwater, stormwater, wastewater, vadose zone, and air quality regulations at more than 60 sites. In addition, insurance industry clients often turn to Haydar for counsel on geotechnical damage at waste storage facilities related to earthquakes and landslides.
To advance quality assurance and safety, he provides training workshops to clients and regulatory agencies on compliance, testing, data management, statistical analysis, and modeling. He also is a frequent speaker on the topic of radon gas risk.
