Mehmet Iscimen is a Principal Engineer based in Georgia with more than 17 years of professional experience focused on the areas of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, solid waste disposal facility design, and construction oversight.
Mehmet specializes in the management of large, multi-disciplinary projects conducted under multiple state and federal regulatory frameworks, with a focus on coal combustion residuals (CCR) management and landfill design. Mehmet's technical expertise includes developing civil site layouts, performing geotechnical assessments, designing surface-water management systems, performing site closures, and assuring regulatory compliance. His projects have involved geotechnical and environmental site investigations; pilot test programs; filter, drainage, liner, and cover system designs; sinkhole mitigation programs; and a variety of other design and construction-related tasks for both government and private sector clients, including the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Southern Company, U.S. Air Force, Crisp County Power Commission, and a number of industrial manufacturers. Mehmet is a Professional Engineer registered in five states and has served as the Engineer of Record for numerous permit application packages and construction quality assurance programs for the design, construction, and operation of CCR disposal facilities in diverse geologic settings.
Serving in a leadership role within Geosyntec's geoenvironmental practice group, Mehmet operates as a key technical contributor, project manager, project director, and technical advisor in the firm. In addition, he has helped to further the knowledge of others in this field by giving technical presentations to his colleagues, clients, and peers on topics relating to CCR Management, civil design, and site closures. In 2014, Mehmet's TVA Kingston Peninsula CCR Disposal Site Project received the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Georgia 2014 Engineering Excellence Grand Award on the basis of future value to the engineering profession; social, economic and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of the owner's needs.
