Robert Bruce is a Senior Principal Engineer based in Texas with more than 35 years of experience focused on planning; feasibility studies; investigation and technical studies; litigation and claims support; preparation and implementation of work plans for a variety of industrial and commercial projects; environmental projects; coastal developments; and civil engineering structures.
As a consultant, Robert has specialized in the planning, design and management of complex civil and environmental remediation projects, and engineering and construction related to oil and natural gas exploration, production, and processing in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Peru, Columbia, Bangladesh, China, Turkey, Philippines, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Canada, and the United States.
With significant experience in management of large-scale civil and environmental construction, Robert's practice focuses on the cost-effective integration of geotechnical, contamination and constructability issues early in site planning when they can be most efficiently considered and includes developing plans, preparing and evaluating bids, contract administration, developing and implementing safety programs, regulatory liaison, project controls, and managing daily operations. He has substantial experience in building and managing multicultural teams of local personnel and firms, and then integrating Geosyntec's established capabilities and resources to achieve project objectives.
He managed the 15-year, $220 million closure of a manufacturing site involving low-level radioactive wastes in Malaysia which included the design and construction of two disposal sites and a waste processing facility. Other recent projects include site planning closure of a mercury contaminated fertilizer plant in Malaysia; decommissioning and abandonment of a subsea pipeline in the Malacca Straits; decommissioning and demolition of a activated carbon regeneration plant in Arizona; construction support for installation of a 1,200 pile secant wall in Toronto Canada; and the design and construction of an emergency well pad and gas collection system to control a gas well blowout in Bangladesh. Robert has been engaged in green stormwater infrastructure projects in the San Fernando Valley, such as the Stormwater Parks Capture project, the Southeast Los Angeles Cultural Center, and other redevelopment projects along the Los Angeles River.
