Sam Williams, P.G., CHG

Sam Williams is a Senior Principal Hydrogeologist based in California with more than 25 years of experience focused on the characterization and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination at industrial and commercial properties.

Utilizing his experience in site characterization and innovative remediation programs to work with clients on converting impacted properties into community assets as commercial developments through Brownfields site redevelopment programs, Sam has worked at numerous multi-party state and federal Superfund sites, RCRA facilities, Brownfields, and UST sites throughout Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, and Texas. Areas of specialization include remedial investigations/feasibility studies, Brownfields redevelopment, assessment and analysis of MTBE-impacted sites, risk assessments and risk-based corrective action, burn site characterization and remediation, and expert consultation in support of litigation.

To advance the state of the practice, Same continues his leadership within the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health, Site Assessment and Mitigation (SAM) Forum. For more than a decade, he has served on the Steering Committee for the SAM Forum. He has also chaired the Vapor Phase Migration Technical Work Group, developing guidance to evaluate potential risks to indoor receptors from the inhalation of vapors from residual subsurface contamination and co-chaired the Risk-Based Corrective Action Technical Work Group to implement ASTM RBCA standards for sites in San Diego County with residual subsurface contamination.
