Thierry Sanglerat is a Senior Principal Civil Engineer based in California with more than 30 years of consulting experience focused on groundwater and soil remediation, brownfield site redevelopment, waste management, and site closure. He has served as an expert witness and has provided deposition and trial testimonies for several cases in state and federal courts, including for the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department of Justice.
Thierry provides high-level thought leadership and expertise as a member of the Dean’s Corporate Advisory Board for the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also a member of the UCLA Civil and Environmental Engineering Industry Advisory Board, where he provides support and guidance from his perspective as an industry leader.
He has been an invited speaker on environmental-related issues at the University of Southern California; the University of California, Los Angeles; and the University of California, Irvine. On many occasions, he has been the lead technical presenter during public and community meetings. He has authored more than 40 technical papers presented at technical conferences sponsored by professional societies and academic institutions. He also holds a patent (No. U.S. 6,706,096) for protection of buildings from subsurface gases.
As a consultant, he has applied his waste management, geotechnical engineering, construction management, and geoenvironmental field and laboratory testing expertise to site beneficial reuse. He has been a key contributor as a technical specialist and regulatory strategist for the remediation of 20 Superfund sites, and has managed the engineering design, construction, and/or closure of more than 25 major landfill/waste containment sites. His specific experience has included the development and implementation of innovative and cost-effective design, closure, and remediation plans, preparation of permitting documents, and negotiation with regulatory agencies.
Complementing Thierry's engineering design and construction services expertise, is his practical experience as a geoenvironmental laboratory and testing services manager. He is also a former contractor and has participated in the implementation of complex closure designs. Throughout his career, Thierry has integrated a seasoned technical background with strong project management skills.
